What in the World is Happening Now?

In the light of the recent attacks on America, I wanted to dedicate this issue to discuss what has been going on in my heart and possibly be the same things you are experiencing as well. (Note: I want to share a note with those believers who are living in Righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost right now. The things I’ve written in the article are for individuals who don’t have peace, don’t live in the promises of God, don’t believe as they would like to, don’t know they are Righteous right now. So if any of these things don’t tug at your heart as you read them, then they aren’t for you – but if they do – don’t be afraid to investigate for yourself and ask God for His help and guidance in areas He’s wanting to deal with you about.)

Where were you on Sept. 11th? I was on my way to work that morning to meet a couple of coworkers for an early breakfast meeting at a local restaurant in Sacramento when I was greeted by the television blurting out, "there’s a second plane". Those in the restaurant stood watching with me, in disbelief, yet it was there, right before our eyes.

Since I work for the State of California our Governor gave us the day off to return home to be with our families. I did that just like the thousands of others. Something I noticed though. As I was getting on the freeway, people were more merciful and allowed me to merge into traffic easily. Cell phones were in heavy use as I noticed the commuters going wherever it was they were going. People were being kind and thoughtful, not rushing with impatience as they normally are.

I spent all day as most of you praying – praying for the survivors, praying for the rescue workers, praying for those still trapped, praying for the president, and even praying for the attackers. I was praying all day for a specific need – a need for America to repent.

I didn’t even ask myself why this happened – it was bound to sooner or later. It wasn’t a shock, I knew we weren’t being protected any longer. America has been going down hill for years and now this generation gets to experience that sewn seed!

I had just got done reading Revelations a few days before the attack and was reminded of something I read that to be described what took place on that dreaded day. Please read Revelations 17 and 18 for yourself and draw your own conclusions. (Also read Hosea Chapter 4 for more insight.)

I don’t know if these passages in were talking about America, but I do know we have a lot of cleaning up to do as a nation. I do know that the Lord cannot protect a person, let alone a nation, who turns their back on Him. (Hosea Ch. 4) The bible clearly says, "He who dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the almighty" (Psalm 91) In order for us to stay in CONTINUED protection, we must dwell and abide. I’m sorry folks, but that’s just not the case anymore; not as a nation anyway. It is up to us as individuals to dwell and abide from this time on because things around us are going to continue to change and we need to be ready for whatever comes. I believe God has removed partial grip on this nation yet has not let go of any of His children! Be confident in that! (I say partial grip because you and I both know things could have been worse!)

See, it’s not time to ask why. It’s not time to go into doubt and fear. It’s not time to run into hiding. It’s time to seek God. It’s time to worship Him. I read over and over in the Word that many of those who go into battle and win is because they began with worship and praise! In revelation during the "great" Tribulation, the things that are going to take place is ten times worse than what we saw Sept. 11th. Many will turn to God many will not. Many will seek Him to purify their hearts and others will blame and get angry with Him. There are only those two choices. What I believe God is doing through this is testing Christians to see what they are really made of. Some Christians may even be doubting God’s Love, His sovereignty, His protection. If you find yourself feeling this way, don’t feel guilty or condemned (don’t get mad at yourself), repent for your doubt toward God and receive forgiveness. Ask Him to give you peace and trust in Him in a deeper revelation. See, there is no crisis in Heaven, He didn't’ fall off the throne. God knew this was going to happen all along. But as I have said over and over, whatever is happening in the world doesn’t concern God as much as what is happening in your heart DURING that situation.

Some of you may be mad at God and not even know it. Here’s a test: If you have any doubt of His permissive will for this world or for what is going on in your life personally, you are mad at Him. If you have unanswered prayers, you are mad at Him. If your life isn’t what you think it should be, you secretly blame Him and are mad at Him. If you don’t like the way you look, you are mad at Him. The truth is the truth – God knows it, we need to know it too. And what do we do with it? We confess it! God is getting at His people’s hearts! This is His love! He is preparing His Bride for the Wedding Feast of the Lamb and has to do a bit of cleaning up before that can take place. It’s just that we are in the time where things are really speeding up and may be that we will see His return in our life time so He wants us to be ready.

This reminds me of the 10 virgin’s story in the bible. 5 were ready and 5 were not. The 5 that were not went out to get more oil for their lamps and when they returned, the door was closed and they weren’t’ allowed in. I believe that being ready is being constantly prepared for His returning. The interesting thing about this is that these were ALL virgins… not 5 non-virgins (signifying non-believers). So if we are to read deep into this, this message is for the believer to be ready! You can read it anyway you like, but I believe that there was provision made for the unbeliever in the Bible but the Word of God was written for the believer. I don’t believe that you can lose your salvation IF you are truly His! You can know right now this surety if you have put your faith in His Son as Savior and believe He is the only begotten Son of God that He died and rose again and is seated at the right hand of God even now. Believe that He has paid the penalty for your sins. And that your desire is to be more like Him and learn of Him. The bible says that only a saved person can believe this or desire these things. So even if your life is a shambles, yet you believe this, you ARE SAVED! Don’t doubt your salvation any longer; move into living IN your salvation!

Each of us needs to confess all hidden sins and iniquities. The bible says that He is coming back for a church without spot or blemish – I believe these to be sins and iniquities. I’m not saying that we’ll be sinless, it’s just that we can continue to stay clean if we live and walk in forgiveness every minute of every day. This is what we should be doing all along. Thanking Him for His love and forgiveness. Walking in complete truth with all men. Wouldn’t the world be a different place if we did these things from our hearts?

The bible says that there will be wars and rumors of wars but the end is not yet. I personally don’t believe "the end of the world" is from our doing – sure there will be wars, mayhem, etc., but it’s going to be God who ultimately destroys it – in the end (remember the flood.) We have some time yet folks to get right with Him. How do we get right with Him? Simply telling Him everything that is in our heart. No matter how ugly it is – no matter how embarrassing it is – no matter if it’s something that we did a long time ago that was never faced because it was too awful and painful to remember. These are the "things" God want’s OUT OF us. This is what is keeping us from our perfect relationship with Him. Jeremiah 5:25 says that we withhold good things from happening to us because of our own sins and iniquities. That’s pretty clear to me. So if good things are not happening in my life, I need to see where my heart is. (I do believe that we are attacked for our faith – but again, it’s not what is happening to us that concerns God as much as our heart’s reaction to the thing happening in our lives.)

The good news is this! Once we have decided to face the truth within ourselves then God will clean us out and REPLACE all that "junk" with His perfect love, peace, joy, contentment, and all His other attributes! Isn’t that what we all want? But in order for us to live in the Promised Land, we need to get rid of Egypt! What I mean is that in order to enter into the ‘rest of God’, we need to let God get at the junk in our hearts so it can be purged (by confession) so He can put into us more of Him and His character. There is only so much room in us – and the junk has to go before God can truly fill us!

Here are some scriptures to meditate on and have confidence in:

"But the end of all things is at hand; be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have love among yourselves and others." (I Peter 4:7-8) I believe this scripture is saying that no matter what happens we are to continue to love each other. Love is Power over the enemy!

"As for me and my house (come hell or high water) we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:15)

"Some trust in Chariots and some in horses but We will remember the name of the Lord our God" (Psalm 20:7)

"I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around… Salvation belongs to the Lord, your blessing is upon YOUR people." (Psalm 3:6-8)

These promises are for God's people, those who know Him and the power of His resurrection. Those who desire His will in their lives. There is hope for you my dear friends, who are saying, "this is too hard to do" you are right – we cannot "do" any of these things alone. What God has told us to do is believe – (even believing we need help from God.) What are we to believe? We are to believe that we are sinners, believe that when we confess our sins Jesus cleanses us from all sin and unrighteousness, and believe our sins are forgiven. Believe He loves us and has a good plan for our lives. God helps us to believe one thing at a time and what we believe we will then begin to live. As we believe, God takes care of everything else. He cleanses us and purges us. He changes the circumstances in our lives. He helps us have faith in Him (helps us believe – that’s what faith is) – after all – Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith we can’t add one cubit to it. All our "trying" is only in vein. God wants us to "enter into His rest", and even if you are still full of junk but willing to take Him at His word, you can dwell and abide in Him even now. God's protection cannot cover an individual who is "outside" His dwelling place. The dwelling place is where peace, trust, safety, truth, and long life resides.

"He that dwells under the secret place of the Most High. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence, He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust; His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou SHALT NOT be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord, who is your refuge, even the most High, your habitation. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all they ways………Because you have set your love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known my name, he shall call upon me and I will answer, I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation."(Psalm 91)

What a wonderful passage of scripture to meditate on; just think, nothing will harm us when we dwell and abide in the presence of God. (Selah)

The Center of the Bible

A friend of mine who reads these newsletters sent this article to me. I thought it was perfect for adding it to this newsletter – enjoy!

What is the shortest chapter in the bible?

Answer: Psalms 117

What is the longest chapter in the bible?

Answer: Psalms 119

Which chapter is in the center of Psalms 117 and Psalms 119?

Answer: Psalms 118

Fact: There are 594 chapters before Psalms 118

Fact: There are 594 chapters after Psalms 118.

Add these numbers up and you get 1188.

What is the center verse in the bible?

Answer: Psalms 118:8

So the next time someone wants to be in the center of God’s will, just send him or her to the center of His word. Psalms 118:8, "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put your confidence in man."

We are to put and keep our trust and confidence in God and believe that He has everything in His control. If you have a hard time doing that – all you need to do is tell God. He will then give you the ability to believe – you cannot make yourself believe anything – it all has to come from Him. If you are having difficulty, this prayer is for you: "Lord, the truth is I do love you. I want more of you in my life but I’m having a hard time believing that you love me unconditionally and have a good plan for me. I confess my doubt and unbelief and receive your forgiveness and ask that you change me and build more faith in me. Lord help my un-belief. In Jesus name, Amen."

This is the kind of prayer God loves to hear – the truth of what is really going on in our hearts. Then He can begin working in our lives. He doesn’t want to hear the ‘church’ answer, He doesn’t want to hear what we think He wants to hear – He wants only the truth. It’s the truth that makes us free. And it’s from that point God can move and work in our lives – He cannot do anything until we get first things first.

Personal Revelation
By Linda Lange

Willy Wonka and Chocolate Factory

I want to share a revelation God gave me a year or so ago about when bad things happen. I believe we can use this revelation at any scale of problem in our lives and I hope it is an encouragement to you. This has helped me deal with the situations now stirring in the world today.

For those of you who don't know the story, let me start there. Willy Wonka was a chocolate maker who ran a chocolate factory. He had a contest that whoever finds a gold ticket in one of his candy bars they got to tour the chocolate factory for a chance to win a lifetime of chocolate! There were only 5 tickets distributed.

Charlie was a poor boy living on the outskirts of town who wanted so badly to win that ticket, but everything was against him. Well, as you can guess, through a few set backs, he actually found a ticket and got to go with 4 other children and their guardians to this factory.

As each child found the ticket Willy's KNOWN arch enemy Mr. Slugworth whispered something in their ear that went something like this, "I will pay you handsomely if you steal me a gopstopper." Then he would disappear.

So the story goes on as each child was disqualified they swore to themselves that they would take that gopstopper to Mr. Slugworth. At the end, Charlie was disqualified as well, he really didn't know why so decided to ask Willy. Willy told him he broke the rules because he touched something he shouldn’t have touched. Charlie’s grandfather – who was with him – told Charlie that they’d get back at Willy by giving Slugworth the gopstopper. As Charlie turned to walk away he turned and placed the gopstopper on the desk where Willy Wonka was sitting. Willy picked up the candy and said, "A good deed in a weary world". Willy turned and called out to Charlie, "You’ve won!" He proceeded to tell Charlie that he was looking for someone who was trustworthy, honest, yet a child who could carry on his work when he was gone - not to mention taking care of the oompa loompas - but that's another story. Charlie said, "I don't understand." Then Slugworth came out from behind the curtain and Charlie gasped. Willy introduced the "man" as someone he hired to do his bidding. Willy said he had to test the recipients of the tickets to be sure of their honesty and trustworthiness. Charlie and his family moved into the Chocolate Factory and lived happily ever after.

So, what has all this have to do with anything spiritual? More than you can imagine.

God showed me that the "enemy" is used to work for Him - to help purify the hearts of His people. The bible says that He will turn us over to the enemy to purify the flesh so that the soul may be saved." (I Corinthians 5:5) Also, the enemy is used to purify the hearts of man. " He delivers us to Satan to help us learn not to sin! (I Timothy 1:20.)

When bad things happen or when we are attacked, tested, or tempted, all this is permitted by God so that the 'junk' that resides in us may be exposed and purged. (Let me stop here and encourage you – when the junk is all out, the enemy will no longer be able to attack you in that area – you won’t be tempted or hurt in that area because God has purged it. So once you have dealt with each and every issue in your heart – you can live without constant attacks from the enemy. Oh, they will come because God is always bringing us up higher and higher and with that comes more purging of stuff still there – but it becomes more bearable and in some cases enjoyable.) We know that God allows a lot of things to happen, we know He could stop them at any time, and this is the reason He doesn't. The bible says he wants to shake off the dross – I believe that’s what He’s doing. Events in our lives that shake us up is revealing the dross in our lives that He wants to cut off. He will go to any length to deliver us and cleanse us. Why? So we can come into full fellowship with Him for He is Holy. The closer we want to get to God, the cleaner we’ll need to become.

This Willy Wonka story is in line with this following scripture: "The Lord has made all things for himself, yeah, even the wicked for the day of evil." (Proverbs 16:4.) Make no mistake (as the president says) God is Still On the Throne and nothing was a surprise to Him.

Here are some other scriptures to read: Colossians 1:14, Isaiah 54:16, Jeremiah 9:12 to the end of the chapter.

So the next time something bad happens, take notice what is coming out of your heart and mouth, or what is manifesting in your emotions, you may have a bit of repenting and receiving to do. Remember, nothing can come out of you that is not already there. It just takes certain circumstances for them to be brought to the surface so you can see it so God can do the work within you. We have really three jobs on this earth – 1) recognize

2) receive

3) then wait on God to do the healing, changing, restoring and cleansing.

All the other things in your life will follow when we do our part. I can tell you from my own experience. I found that the hardest part was to see me clearly and what was really in my heart – because I realized that the things around me, my circumstances and relationships with people was a mirror of what was truly in my heart. Once I allowed God to reveal this stuff, he has been changing me ever since and that includes changing all my circumstances, my relationships with people, giving me more peace and joy, more blessings that I ever dreamed possible – but it all starts with these three little steps.

I pray you receive a personal revelation on the Love of God right now for you. He will never leave us alone in the state we are in but will come and help us and heal us because He loves us.

Feature Article
By Linda Lange

Just recently I held a meeting in Sacramento where a number of ladies attended – most of them knew each other so it was pretty intimate.

The discussion was opened to what took place on Sept. 11th, and how each person was "feeling" about it. So I began writing down on the board those things. I also asked them to include anything they are experiencing personally in their own lives at home. This was the list.

Suspicion

Distrust

Evil Foreboding (something bad is going to happen feelings, or "what next?")

Fear

Anger

Stress and anxiety

Judgmental

Resentment

Violated

Victims

Blame

Self-pity

Envy and jealousy

Unforgiveness

Merciless

After each word I asked if this was something world wide or personal. After each word we realized it was both!

I stopped here and made note of what we wrote down. I said, "Those feelings you are feeling you have already been manifesting on a smaller scale, you just didn’t notice it until now. If you "became" suspicious, then at a smaller scale you already were and just didn’t even know how truly suspicious you were. God wants us to see what is in our heart and is getting to the deep rooted junk – and unfortunately had to use something catastrophic to get to it." (I was just thinking that God is an opportunist – uses everything that happens and brings good out of it.)

One of the ladies said, "I feel awful". I smiled at her and said, The "junk" in your heart is surfacing and is manifesting and you are seeing it and feeling it and is making you feel awful." I began telling her and the rest of the group that in order for God to purge the "junk" it has to be exposed and the only way for it to be exposed is to be brought up to the surface of our thoughts and feelings! Not to "feel" guilty or condemned or feel like a "bad" Christian, but simply take that "stuff" that's been exposed to God, and confess it and receive forgiveness, because all that junk in us that is rising is INIQUITIES.

I went on to explain what the difference was between sins and iniquities. I brought out a large cup full of cotton balls and rocks. The cup represents our hearts, the cotton balls sins, and the rocks were iniquities. I began by saying that an iniquity is a sin all grown up! In other words, a sin was there but never dealt with, never confessed, so it developed a hard case around it and it dropped to the bottom of our spirit never to be looked at again. Well, it's these things that God wants out of us! These are the things keeping us in bondage, keeping us from living full and free lives within our hearts, keeping us from walking in peace no matter what is going on, and hearing clearly from Him. Jeremiah 25:5 says that WE withhold good things from happening to us because of our sins and iniquities!

As we again looked at the list of things we wrote the lady I'm speaking of said, "But I never felt suspicious or distrusting until the attack on America happened." I then explained that she has had suspicion and distrust deep down inside her from her own life circumstances, it just took this incident to bring them up to the surface. She thought for a moment and did see the parallel. Then I asked, "What are we to do with the sins that are revealed?" I John 1:9 it! So we prayed together over these sins we wrote down and received forgiveness, each one of us.

Interestingly enough, after we prayed and by faith received cleansing, they asked me to write down more feelings they were having that they didn’t name before. See, God doesn't tell us all our Junk at once, he gives it to us in doses cause He knows how much we can handle. As the things kept coming up, we would confess and receive forgiveness. The stuff comes up in layers. I explained that it's not a time to run, hide, squash the junk back into our hearts or be condemned and full of guilt, but to simply take them to God and receive forgiveness.

I also began explaining that if we would have taken care of these feelings (sins and iniquities) when they were small, He never would have allowed the incident to happen that made us see inside ourselves more clearly. This was never His intention.

Then this same lady shared something that was happening in her life that was causing her grief. After we discussed her situation she knew she had to make a decision, but the decision she knew she needed to make was hard. These same feelings she was having toward the attack on America were the same ones she was having with this situation in her life all along. She had a lot of "what ifs" going through her head. There was fear and doubt. She was suspicious and angry, full of anxiety and stress. She felt like a victim, full of self-pity, unforgiving – well you get the picture. The same things that we listed earlier in this article!

What took place at this meeting for her is what will happen when we each go before God in truth. Once the dross (sins and iniquities as listed) was confessed and removed, she was able to see clearer her direction for her life. She saw God leading her to make the decision and had gained the faith needed to make that decision and move on it. Remember that it's our own sins and iniquities that prevent God from being able to move in our lives! All that JUNK has to be removed before we can hear or see clearly! Isaiah 35:5-6 says that fear prevents us from hearing or seeing! Fear had to Go! So during this meeting I prayed over her and she was set free from the "spirit of fear". She was seeing clearer and gained strength to follow through with her decision.

There was hope restored, peace was restored, hearts were lighter, joy was restored, trust and faith just grew by leaps and bounds, and boldness and confidence was established. Now this lady and all those that attended this meeting are more equipped to face what the world will throw at them next, with stability, peace, patience, trust and strength!

Tom's Tidbits

It'll be all right!

When things happen to my world, personally and globally, Tom will say to me, "It'll be all right". Those 4 words have brought peace and stability to my life because I trust Tom. When God says, "trust me" He is actually saying as well, "It'll be all right".

I want to add here that everything will be all right. If you have stress, fear, anxiety, hopelessness, dread, doubt and unbelief – begin saying "It’ll be all right – Lord Help my unbelief."

To tell you the truth I had to say this over and over for over a year because I had believed lies all my life and it took God and my positive confession to break them off me just to get me to the place I trust Him to take care of me.

INSIGHT ON DISEASE

ANGER

Is anger a disease? Well experts are saying it is, they have even supported "anger management" classes. I believe anything that causes us discomfort is a dis-ease. Does anyone reading this have bouts of anger from time to time? Have you been raised in a house that reeked strife and rage and anger? Do you have explosions of anger? Do your kids have sudden bursts of anger? Do you have "road rage?" Anyway, I think you know who you are and I do believe that you don't want to "feel" anger any more. Well you came to the right place. No need for anger management classes. No need to "control" your anger with a shot of alcohol or a pill.

Tom and I were talking one day about anger and he said Anger is simply frustration. And as I thought about it, it's really true. We get angry because something has happened we don’t like! Something we didn't think should have happened. Something we may not have any control over. It’s not the ‘anger’ that we need to take a look at, it’s the reason for the anger – and there is a spiritual root to anger. If you notice in the things I just stated, they are all rooted in the need for control. Having your world the way you want it so you have peace. But that is not how it works. Peace comes from within no matter what is going on without. So if you want to be free from anger, here’s how:

Develop your relationship in greater revelation with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Each attribute of the Godhead is crucial to us becoming free from anger and "wrath of man"! (James Ch. 1). These are the roles of the Godhead: God is Love, Jesus is the Sound Mind, and the Holy Spirit is Power. We need these three attributes in our lives! How do we get them? We get to KNOW Him. In the bible when a lady and a man "knew" each other, it meant they've become sexually intimate resulting in becoming one flesh. That's how God wants us to be with Him, so close to Him nothing can wedge between us. We do this by asking God to reveal Himself to us on a more personal level and help us to receive MORE OF HIS love. The bible says that perfect love casts out fear…" (We cannot have love and fear going on in our lives at the same time – it’s either one or the other.) Anger is a form of fear! I can't explain it any simpler than that! Anger is rooted in fear. Here’s an example: Imagine you are a mother or father in a store. You have been shopping and turn around and find your child gone. You search and search; you are fearful thinking they have been stolen. You are gripped with fear. Then you see them playing in the toy section. Your "fear" turns to anger. You grab them and say; "Don’t you ever wonder off from me again." And you aren’t saying it with love. In most situations, fear is immediately felt then it eventually turns to anger. We are quickly angered when things don't happen that we expect should! (We are not trusting God to take care of us and our children when we fear for them.) Here are some of the attributes of anger – (things that produce anger).

In order to be cleansed and purged once and for all, we need to identify our sins associated with anger (as I’ve listed above). Where did these sins come from? Each one of these things is in relationship with how we’ve been feeling or living toward God, others and ourselves. Each sin listed is a result of unforgiveness toward the person who offended us.

If we do our part of forgiving, God will remove the thing causing our dis-ease and free us to forgive the offender! I found that it's not the "thing" that happened to us that makes us sin, it’s the response we do because of it and that only comes from our past experiences. God removes that pain when we forgive.

Anger and stress management is NOT the answer - it is a method! And in those classes they are taught to "control" those feelings. See here again, controlling is not from God. Only God has that authority to control. These classes teach you to be self-preserved and take care of yourself – in God’s Kingdom only He can take care of you. These classes are teaching idolatry.

The more excellent way is to get that junk completely out of us so we don't have to control anything! Isn’t that a more "freer" feeling? Just saying it feels good. And it's done by allowing God to expose the junk within our hearts, confessing the sin, and receiving forgiveness. Yep, it's that simple.

Another avenue we need to look at for a minute is the generational curses. Anger can be passed on from generation to generation. Anyone you know short tempered? Take a look at their parents, were they too? Yes, anger can be passed on, but can stop here. In Nehemiah it says that the people stood before God and confessed the sins of their fathers. I took that literally, and since I had anger in me and knew that some of it could have been passed down from my father who was angry a lot, I began confessing the sins of my father. Then I prayed for God to break the curse and by faith I trusted He did. From that day on, anger has been less! Now it's the other sins connecting to anger that God has to deal with in me. But at least now I’m not also carrying my father’s.

One day I thought I was all delivered from anger when someone made me very angry on the road - they flipped me off! Boy, my blood boiled – if you know what I mean, that kinda hot flushed feeling that rises up from within. I wanted to do something to them. I pulled over on the side of the road, not knowing what I would do, but knew it was rage, anger and retaliation setting in. I listened to myself for a minute, confessed what I was feeling, FORGAVE the person who flipped me off, and within seconds my peace was restored and drove on.

What happened was this. There was still some deep-rooted rage and anger in me and this incident brought it up to the surface. There were more layers of anger in me I hadn’t yet seen. I thought I had overcome rage and anger but apparently had only dealt with the surface layers. Remember that God only allows so much to be exposed at a time because He knows how much truth we can take.

The truth will set you free - not the truth about someone else, but the truth about what is in our own hearts! God looks at the heart, not at our circumstances, clothing, cars we drive, where we live, but ONLY at our hearts.

So is there hope for someone whose middle name is anger? It’s the same three steps that I shared in the Willy Wonka Story.

  1. Recognize (see the truth in your heart)
  2. Receive forgiveness for sins once confessed
  3. Wait on God to do the work – cleaning up, restoring, building your faith, etc. These things are HIS job. This is where you find rest and peace, knowing He’s doing what you cannot do!

Our whole purpose to living this way is to live in the light of God’s word. So we can be blessed and bless others. But first things first. We have to be dealt with and taught before we can go minister to others.

Scripture of the Month

II Chronicles 7:14

"If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land."

I find this very appropriate for this issue as many of those I have been speaking with has said this scripture just keeps popping up in their heads. Let’s take a look at it a little closer.

  1. If my people - you and me, believers! Not the unbelievers, us!
  2. Who are called by my name - people who KNOW HIM and the power of His resurrection? To really know God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and receive His love and grace and mercy every day – not just when trouble comes.
  3. Shall humble themselves - this is where the rubber meets the road. I looked up the word humble in the dictionary and what jumped out to me was this - "Not to over estimate our own importance." This is pride - and what does God hate the most? Pride. I have heard over and over, "How can this happen to America?" That is a pride statement and arrogant. And this is just how the other countries are seeing us! We need to take heed at what others see in us and take it as a truth and repent. We are to humble ourselves - this is something WE must participate in and DO.
  4. And pray - Many are complaining, murmuring and grumbling, fearing, doubting, and not praying. Praying is talking with God, sharing our heart and desires and concerns and trusting that God has heard you and will respond.
  5. Seek His Face. Not just his hand. But look into his eyes and receive the love he has for us. Seek is an action word and never ends! We are to seek Him continually!
  6. Turn from our wicked ways. He is talking to the believer. I did a study on the word wicked and the conclusion I came up with was that the word wicked is unbelief. So, it is suffice to say that a wicked person is an unbelieving believer - this is double mindedness and we know that a person that is unstable and double minded shall not receive anything from the Lord (James Ch. 1) And to turn from disbelief! That also is an action word on my part - I need to do an about face as I begin to doubt; I need to stir up my believing! Do the complete opposite!
  7. THEN.... and only then will God hear from heaven and forgive us and heal our land. It is apparent here that our sins connects to our circumstances! (Selah)

This is a prayer I hope each of us take to heart: "Lord, help my unbelief. Expose any evil in my heart, any hidden sins and iniquities. Cleanse me from them. If there are people in my life I have unforgiveness toward, reveal them to me so I can forgive. Create a clean heart within me Lord. Restore my relationship with you God; help me to receive mega doses of your love right now. I will not fear, and I will be anxious for nothing, but will only believe! Help me to seek you every day in everything I do or think. Help me to acknowledge you in ALL my ways so you can direct me. I thank you for your blessings in my life. I will continue to trust and grow in faith in Jesus. In Jesus name. Amen."
