Indian Living

I was watching a movie the other day called "Dances with Wolves." I began pondering on how Indians truly lived in the old days on the prairie. What I noticed was that these individuals weren't out starting ministries, they didn't venture away from their family long - but only to hunt and fish and fight the other Indians to preserve their lives. God showed me a truth. People in our day and time have strayed from the basics of life. Indians lived together and served one another daily. They made preparations for their family and prepared for winter. The Lord showed me that being a Christian is being a Christian right where we are. When we are grocery shopping we have opportunity after opportunity to allow the Lord to love people through us right where we are. Driving down the road, there may be opportunity to pray over an accident. Working is where we can be a witness and encouragement to those around us - displaying the love of God. And it goes on and on. Too many are "trying" to "BE" somewhere else and not where they ARE. As we live and walk and breathe in love and fellowship with those around us, that's what Christianity is all about. Let's look at Jesus. Wherever His foot stepped, people were helped, taught, healed, and loved. I believe if this were the case in every believer's life today, there wouldn't be any lonely people, people will feel more love, and there wouldn't be as much crime in the world. It is a truth that there could be people in our immediate families that aren't being touched because we are out trying to touch strangers. But if everyone touched the lives, EVERY life, within a 10-mile radius of their homes, this world would be different. Jesus didn't even venture beyond 25 miles (or so). I've often been concerned for people who tell me they are going to another country to minister and yet I know for a fact their own homes are suffering. Selah.

Twin Towers (9/11)

"So how do you feel about what happened?" This is a question I asked a group of ladies a year ago right after the attack. And I ask it again? How do you STILL feel? I won't go into a lot here, but wanted to make a point. The Lord uses everything, no matter how terrible, to bring something good out of it. And in most cases, it brought "junk" out in people too. Yes, we all became more patriotic, but I also saw something else that came out. After watching the programs on 9/11 I saw the anger and bitterness and fear that were very much alive in many individuals. The Lord has shown this to me over and over again, in every trial that comes, that the trial is used to see what is inside of us so that the impurities are brought to the surface so He can purge and heal. Unfortunately, individuals who don't know this are holding onto that anger and hatred believing they are justified to do so. But in the long run, all they are doing is causing themselves more grief and pain, and possible physical illness. I saw a woman collapse when she was being interviewed because she said she had a heavy burden - she was riddled with anger and grief and that IS a heavy burden to carry. I don't know how anyone could make it through times like this without the Lord - I guess they really don't. They merely exist. But I want more than that. So, let me ask you again. What are you feeling? What is in your heart about this situation? Do you think God made a mistake? Have you confessed your sin of anger, hate, indifference, injustice, judgment, criticism, bitterness, doubt and fear? If you haven't, I suggest you take a moment to take it all to the Lord and allow Him to remove it and replace it with His peace.

Life is But a Game!

Have you heard that nursery rhyme: Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream, merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream. Well I got a revelation and instead of "life is but a dream" the Holy Spirit said to me, "Life is but a game." As I thought on that, I realized that all through the Bible, the Christian life is referred to as "running the race", "obtaining the prize", etc. So I had to agree that life is a game. I began to think what the goal of the game was and what the prize was at the end of the game? Then the Holy Spirit spoke saying; "The goal of this game is to be able to play the game." "Huh?" I asked. Then it came to me. We know the ultimate prize is of course heaven and being changed in the twinkling of an eye, but while we are here, it's not whether we win or lose, it's HOW WE PLAY THE GAME! So instead of trying to get to the finish line, we need to pay more attention on how we're playing the game. I don't need to worry about the finish line - when Jesus returns, He'll complete where I lack and take me to obtain my grand prize. So many of us think that our "goals" is the prize. For example some say "When I'm out of school, then I'll be happy." When I'm out of debt, then I'll be happy." "When I'm finally married, then I'll be happy." See we have not to be so concerned about the "goal" but what we are doing along the way. Are we trampling over people? Are we in fear and worry about the future? Are we impatient because our body hasn't manifested the healing? Are we frustrated? Pay more attention on how you are living, not the ultimate prize - because to tell you the truth, How you are living IS the ultimate prize! Some have said, "I'll give up all my possessions for a little peace of mind." They won the prize the world had to offer, but didn't win the prize the Lord had to offer, and they are still miserable.

TOM's TIDBITS

"Jesus thought a thought."

Tom and I were talking one morning about how Jesus healed. Sometimes He would touch a life personally other times He spoke a word. But it all began at what He was thinking. He had to know who He was FIRST before He could do the things He did. Before He began any teaching or healing ministry, while He was being baptized the heavens opened and the Lord spoke, "This is my beloved Son in Whom I am Well Pleased." (Matthew 3:17) Jesus knew He was loved and accepted of His Father. He knew in His heart and mind. Our mind gives our body motivation - and so if our thoughts are not right - our bodies will respond incorrectly. The Lord even says, "So as you have believed, let it be done unto you." (Matthew 8:13)

Why, When, What about?

(Why, when and what about questions all reference the same thing - the "need" to know. I have shared on occasion about "needing to know" and how if used incorrectly can cause us much grief. But there is a correct way of "knowing", and I explain more in this article.)

Have you ever found yourself asking Why God Why? When God When, or What about this or that? I think we have all found ourselves in one or all of these categories from time to time, but honestly, it shouldn't be as often as we do.

Let's look at the Why's in life. Let's say that a child comes up to you and asks you if he could do something. You respond with "No". What is the next question that comes out of their mouth? You got it, "Why not?" Most of the times we say, "Because I said so." Parents do have a reason behind that question and every parent just wishes their children would take "no" for an answer and not question it. It means the child doesn't think the parent knows what is best for them. This is what we are saying to God as well when we ask Why. Now, there are times to ask God Why if you really want to know the answer - but many times we just whine and whimper when we ask God why and not really waiting for any answer at all.

You know, truthfully, I haven't asked God why (or even myself or others) in a very very long time. I just know for me, that when I ask God why, I'm questioning His decisions for my life. I have begun to trust Him IN the things that I don't have answers to - and what peace! We are not equipped to KNOW everything, but to KNOW the one WHO knows everything - that should be sufficient for us.

When's?

Now we get into When God When? When will I get a new job? When will I get married? When will my husband change? When will my finances improve? When will I be healed? One day as I was meditating on this portion of the article, I stopped a minute and said, "Yeah God, When will these things happen in people's lives?" He responded so clearly and concisely saying, "When they do what I have told them to do in the first place." Boy that shut me up in a heartbeat! I discovered that the ball for "when" is in our court! God is a right now God and has ALREADY given us everything we could ever hope or dream of but WHEN we get it is up to us! However, something to keep in mind about "when." Sometimes God allows a long delay because He is testing your faith to see if you'll remain in peace and trust even when you can't figure out what is going on. He wants to see if you truly will rely and lean on Him no matter what it looks like.

What About's?

OK, now for the "What About's?" What about them? What about her, she's not as spiritual as I am and yet she is being blessed more than I am? What about my husband, why do I have to do all the changing? When we ask the "What About's" it's rooted in comparison and jealousy and anger. Again, we aren't trusting God to give us WHAT He believes is right for our lives. Trials come to us to work in the most important attribute - patience. (Romans 5:3-5) When we have patience we gain experience, and when we gain experience, we gain hope. Without Hope you cannot endure. "Hope deferred makes the heart sick." (Proverbs 13:12) Hopelessness brings illness of all kinds. We lose the will to live. What I've concluded in my own heart is that when I have patience it brings hope, when I have hope I have peace. Peace is trusting God completely in all things. (Proverbs 3:17) Then you have begun to walk in the "rest" of God, the place where every believer desires.

To sum it up, I found that if I used any of these phrases in my daily talk, I am really "wanting to know." Remember I said there is a correct way of knowing? Knowing was inherently placed in us and I'm sure we've all said this many times, "I just want to know." The problem is, we are trying to "know" the why, when and how's of life and that's not necessarily what God wants to tell us. He wants us simply to trust Him. So how do we get to the point we truly trust God? You cannot trust someone you don't know. Because if you knew God and His Character and His activity in your life, you wouldn't question Him at all. You would simply roll with what is going on and be in peace and stability through it all. That's how you "know" that you truly trust God. Paul said that he resolves to know nothing but Christ and Him crucified. (I Corinthians 2:2) We are a people getting to know many things - we even go to school to know more things - we get on the Internet to know more things - but we are missing it! We are to get to know Him and Him alone. It is truly that easy. Once we begin a journey of getting to know Him and all his characteristics, the Word then changes us and we then begin to trust God. We cannot make ourselves trust God; it's a gift from God. Trust COMES by getting to know the one you want to trust. The bible says to "Those that know His name will put their trust in Him." (Psalm 9:10) So what IS His name? Let me list them for you:

Adam (I Corinthians 15:45), Advocate (1John 2:1), Almighty (Rev. 1:8); Alpha and Omega (Rev 1:8); Amen (Rev. 3:14); Author and Finisher of our Faith (Hebrews 12:2); Bread of Life (John 6:35); Corner-stone (Psalm 118:22), Counselor (Isaiah 9:6), Dayspring (Luke 7:78); Deliverer (Romans 11:26); Everlasting Father (Isaiah 9:6); First and Last (Rev. 1:17), God (Isaiah 40:3); Good Shepherd (John 10:11); Great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14); Head of the Church (Ephesians 1:22); Heir of All Things (Hebrews 1:2); Holy One (Acts 3:14); I am (John 8:48); Emanuel (Isaiah 7:14); Jehovah (Isaiah 26:4); Jesus of Nazareth (Matthew 21:11); Just One (Acts 7:53), King of the World (John 8:12), Lion of the Tribe of Judah (Rev. 5:5); Lord of All (Acts 10:35); Lord of Lords (1 Timothy 6:15); Lamb of God (John 1:29), Light of the World (John 8:12); Man of Sorrows (Isaiah 53:3); Mediator (I Timothy 2:5); Messiah (Daniel 9:25); Mighty God (Isaiah 9:6); Mighty One (Isaiah 60:16); Morning Star (Rev. 22:16); Nazarene (Matthew 2:23); Only Begotten Son (John 1:18); Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6); Redeemer (Job 19:25); Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25); Rock (I Corinthians 10:4); Rose of Sharon (Song of Solomon 2:1); Savior (Luke 2:11); Son of David (Matthew 1:1); Son of God (Matthew 2:15); Son of Man (Matthew 8:20); True Light (John 1:9); True Vine (John 15:1); Truth (John 1:14); Word (John 1:1); Word of God (Rev. 19:13).

Whew, He has a lot of names, and possibly has more that I am unaware of at this moment - but look at the Name of Jesus that we have to "get to know." Can you say you truly know what all these names mean? We need to study each name and get a revelation, and then we will begin to truly get to know Him. Jesus said, "You see me, you will see the Father, I and my Father are One." (John 10:30). John 10:26 says, "But ye believe not, because you are not my sheep, my sheep hear my voice because I know them." It's interesting that when we truly get to know Jesus, He is also truly getting to know us. Isn't that how it works? Jesus also said, "Depart from me, I never knew you." See it's a two way street. Yes, we know God knows us, He made us, but things really change in our lives when we get to know Him personally. That's why when we are SAVED it gives us the open door to truly build a relationship with Him. It's like making a friend - we do that by visiting with them, talking with them, sharing about ourselves, and letting them share about them.

Some say that they trust God, but then go on worrying and fretting all the time. They say it with their lips, but it's not in their heart. Only God can change the heart. Our job is to get to know Him for ourselves personally. Seek First the Kingdom of God and everything else you want hope or dream of will be added. Kingdom of God is KNOWING the Godhead personally.

I don't know how many ways to explain this thing about truly believing God. It doesn't just happen over night - we have to learn to trust. Trust comes one situation at a time. And if you have the knowledge of God's character within you when you go to deal with certain things, you will see a difference in the way you respond. You will eventually respond with peace, joy, and stability. You won't be ranting and raving any more. You'll be happier and those around you will be happier too.

To trust God means to give it to Him and release it, and stay in peace even though you don't know what's going to happen. What a great place to live! And it's there for you. If I'm living in this kind of peace, anyone can. For those of you who know me personally, you know that I've struggled with many many things… no longer struggling - now I'm trusting. So things don't change right away, I'm able to remain in peace even during those waiting times.

Isn't this scriptural? "I've learned to be content in all things, whether abased or abound, whether rich or poor…." (Phillippians 4:12) Gee, what a concept!

More Insight!

"The Truth shall make you free" (to receive the Love of God so you can enter into His rest.)

I had wondered why after 18 years of being a Christian, that it wasn't until 5 years ago that things began changing in my life. It was because I didn't KNOW the truth. (This again is covered in the article above on "knowing" Jesus.) I had believed half-truths and lies all my life. Even when I would go to church, we were taught many promises, but never told us how to get them. Didn't tell us that we had to allow God to reveal the deep dark secrets of our hearts to receive what He had for us. I didn't learn how to recognize my own condition. I didn't know what LOVE really was or how to recognize it when it came to me. I didn't know I was out of relationship with God because of unforgiveness toward people who had hurt me. I didn't KNOW. The bible says, "My people perish for lack of knowledge." (Hosea 4:6) Mind you, I had been involved in church for years, conducted bible study, was in a worship team and Christian band WITHOUT KNOWING any of this. Once the TRUTH was told to me, THEN the truth made room for the Love of God to enter me. Once His love began entering me, it began exposing more of the junk in me - and now the purging was on! One layer after layer. One day I realized that as I'd find a TRUTH, it brought me closer in relationship with God. Truth exposes the sin in us, and once it's exposed, we are to confess it so that God can purge and cleanse us (I John 1:9). The more we are cleansed, the more we can hear Him. The more we can SEE. The "knowing" becomes WHO we are. It's not just in our head, it's in our heart and we begin living what we know!

Personal Revelation

Yep, it's about food, again! How many times have you read about my plight with food? Well, I am almost embarrased to say but I believe I found by revelation what I had been looking for. The other day I was driving to work and I asked God, Why is it that I think of food day in and day out? I didn't hear anything in response, so I went on my day forgetting I had even asked that question. Then during lunch, a nutritionist spoke on the "undiet." Then I remembered the question I asked when this woman began speaking because she was instrumental in my getting a revelation in this area. She said, "American's are taught to hate food. But in other countries they savor the food, they mull over it and visit with others, and celebrate food." I began to think of that statement and began to see in my life that in a truth, I hated food. Even though for as long as I can remember I would say, "I love food," I realized that I had a love hate relationship with food. I would love it when I ate it, and when I was done I would hate that I ate it! Sometimes I'd begin hating it before I even finished it. I realized my thinking was distorted.

The truth is God made a variety of great foods, very enjoyable too. After all, He created taste buds so we can enjoy the tastes. If it didn't matter, He wouldn't have created any of it. So the fact is, He did make it for us to enjoy. My problem was that when I ate, I ate fast and even when I finished a big meal I was still hungry - and I ate everything on my plate! So I would grab a snack to top it off because I still had room - so I thought. But I learned that day, that I needed to savor each bite, enjoy the taste and focus on what I'm eating while I'm eating it, that I don't have to eat everything on my plate, that I don't have to deprive myself at all. I realized that eating is like breathing - the difference is I have to take the food and put it to my mouth so there is a point of effort involved - but both are as important as the other.

Through this lady's talk she shared how to eat. You can eat anything you want, just eat when you are hungry and then stop when you are full. I think that's been my problem. I've been eating when it's TIME to eat, I eat when I watch TV (habit), and I don't stop eating when I'm full because I eat so fast I don't know that I'm full until it's too late. So what has all this to do with my revelation? It's this: I realized that I had been thinking of food too much because I didn't think I was suppose to be eating it. The more I kicked and fought it, the more it became a bondage to me. I have "on purpose" began to think of food differently. I began changing the way I eat and paying attention to what I eat. I've been enjoying each bite. After doing that, I was no longer "feeling" condemned or mad at myself. I understand it's a part of life, and that is why it was on my mind as much as it was. My body knew it needed to eat, I had not been giving it what it wanted because I thought it was bad. My thinking has begun to change in this area. So stay tuned… now I have to "walk out" my newfound revelation.

Oh, by the way, I have three kitties that showed this to me during this time too. They, like clockwork, sit at the door every morning and evening waiting for me to feed them. It's built in them as it's built into us! I had been fighting against something that is absolutely normal and can never leave me! Boy what a difference to finally say, "It's OK to think of food." Man, that alone took a huge bondage from me - I had believed incorrectly all these years.

A Closer Walk with Thee

"Why do you seem to be so spiritual?" I was asked this question over a lunch visit with a couple of friends of mine. We were talking about "how" to get closer to God. My friend began telling me that she felt so much better when she would spend time with God in the morning, but lately she hasn't. She has felt "bad" about not doing that. I then told her that her feeling "bad" was making things worse. All she has to do is go to God, NOW, and tell him the TRUTH on how she feels and what she desires to do so He can help her. Not be condemned of yesterday, but receive forgiveness and help right now. But I also said that sometimes people "think" that by "doing their duty" makes God pleased with them. Sometimes people do their studies for God to please God. Which in fact should be done for them - after all, God already knows the book. You want to please God? Then "enter" His rest. You do that by being who you are right now, walk in truth, stay continually transparent before Him in all things, and don't hide from Him when you do make mistakes. She said, "Well, I see that I have been running from Him because of what I think I should have been doing." I didn't have to say anything else, she understood. It's not what we "DO" it's what we "ARE." We cannot do anything to get God to love us more or bless us more, what He wants is TRUTH. III John 1:4 says, "I have no greater JOY than that my children walk in truth!" Now there are circumstances to our actions, but our actions come from "who we think we are!" The bible says, we are what we think.

I found that truth to many people is very much distorted, that's why they are still in bondage. Until the TRUE Truth is revealed, they will stay in bondage. So what is the truth? The bible says that Jesus is the "Way, the TRUTH and the life." We can start there. Truth is learning all about Jesus and His ways. The written Word in the Bible is the Truth. Have you ever read a scripture and would say, "Well, that's nice for some people, but not for me", or "I really want that, but I don't think I'll ever have it." These statements are LIES. You are reading truth, but you are believing a lie. All the Words in the Bible are FOR YOU!! All of them. That's the first truth you need to see. The second truth is this: The Lord wants us to see the truth within us so that He can purge us. Psalm 51:6 says that you desire for me to see truth in my inward parts and in the hidden part… then you can purge me (v.7). As we confess what WE see in us first, THEN God can correct us! But we have to be willing to see what is in us. For example: I have been coming clean before the Lord for awhile now and this is how it works. Sometimes it's out of the blue God starts showing me something in my heart, or it's when I ask Him to show me - either way, I'm ready to SEE otherwise God would never have gone there with me. So as I begin SEEING what is in my heart I may notice the UGLY things, yet it was my life and where I lived - it was "my" truth. Those things are SINS and need to be confessed so that God can purge. Easy as that. The more that is revealed and confessed and purged the CLOSER we come to our father. Sin and iniquities is what separates us from our relationship with God. (Isaiah 59;1,2 and Jeremiah 5:25)

I continued telling my friend that I stay completely transparent before God, in all things. When I feel I failed - I tell Him. When I sin, I immediately confess it to Him. I believe His Word of TRUTH is true when He says to come boldly before His throne - but remember it's a throne of Grace, which is His love.

Another thing I thought of after I spoke with my friend was this. "God inhabits the praises of His people." (Psalm 22:3) You want to be in God's presence all the time, just develop a thankful heart. As I thought on this, I realize I thank God even before my eyes are open in the morning. I thank Him in every single thing I do. When I drive to work and someone lets me in traffic, I thank God for opening that up for me. I thank Him when I get a green light. I thank Him when I do a project at work. I thank Him for lunch and friends at work. I thank Him for the trials during the day. I thank Him when I'm not feeling well. I thank Him for my home when I drive up to it. I thank Him. I praise him during all this thanking. When He reveals a deep hidden sin or a truth to me, I praise Him because I know it is only helping me become closer to Him. I thank Him in my dreams! I praise Him at all times! I didn't MAKE myself begin praising Him at the first; I began praising Him because of Truth. What He showed me in my life has allowed me to be purged so now my TRUE heart has been to praise Him and thank Him. He even put it in me to Praise and Thank Him!

So, in a nutshell, you want to be more spiritual (in the right way) then 1) Allow God to reveal the truth in your life and then confess it to Him, regardless of what it is. 2) Then thank Him.

I recall in Nehemiah that when the people stood listening to the bible being read, they all began to cry and be sad because of the truth that they saw they weren't living or didn't have - but then the prophet said, "Mourn or cry not, but go and eat and come back and PRAISE the Lord!" By mercy and truth - iniquity is purged. (Psalm 16:6) Ephesians 5:26 says the Word of TRUTH cleanses and sanctifies us! Isn't that what we all want? We want to be like Jesus? We know that the INNER junk has to Go, all the sin, lies, etc.? That's what God does when He let's us SEE within us. That JUNK has to Go. Once it does, it brings us one step closer to the Lord. Pretty soon, you are experiencing Him in His Holy Hill. You are reaping the benefits of all the promises in the Word of God. Your prayers are being answered BEFORE you even finish. You are dwelling in the Promised Land - a place flowing with all the abundance you have so desired.

But first things first!

  1. Allow God to show you the truth within your heart
  2. Confess the sin that is there and receiving forgiveness, forgiving others as well
  3. Then Praise Him

Scripture of the Month:

Hosea 7:1 (KJV)

"Come let us return unto the Lord, for He hath torn, and He will heal us, He hath smitten, and He will bind us up. After two days will He revive us; in the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight. Then shall we "KNOW" if we follow on to know the Lord; his going forth is prepared as the morning, and He shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth."

God is in control of everything that happens to you, but in the end, His plan is to raise you up. And after we have gone through some things, we shall know Him better. Then as more trials come, our knowing Him in this trial will make us stronger for the next. I often wondered why in my later years have I really gotten more revelations on Him than ever, it's because God rains on us in the "latter days." I tell my husband that when I married him, I saved the best for last. I think there's even a song that says that. I believe that's How God is, He saves the best for last!

Comments from Individuals viewing Life Application Website:

"I am only writing to say thank you for the wonderful idea of making your inspiration, advice and reassurance available for so many other people struggling on the same journey. Fellowship is a great comfort and encouragement - I have had some minor health problems recently and some more considerable, ongoing emotional difficulties linked to worry/fear/unreasonable discontentment, and it was very helpful to read your words and feel encouraged by them. May God bless you all in your work as much as He blesses others through it."

Another comment:

"I am so very excited to come across your Website. Your teaching goes straight to the heart of why Christ came; that we may have life and have it abundantly, so that through receiving the truth we may have the life and power of God in our spirit, soul and body in abundance. When we have the life of God in our flesh, no bacteria, virus or any body malfunction can abide. When we have the life of God or the truth in our soul we have faith, the power of God to obey or love Him, the power to overcome Satan and the world, the power to declare a thing and it will come to pass---God's power to change the world. When we have the truth or the life and power of God or eternal life or the glory of God or God's love in our spirit, we remain saved, and if we die with eternal life in our spirit, our spirit already dwelling in God will separate from our bodies and continue to dwell in God until the last day when the Son of God will appear and we will appear with Him in glory. Why glory? Because eternal life or the truth in our spirit at the moment of death is the glory of God we have in Christ. When we appear with Christ, that glory or eternal life in our spirit will be released into our decayed bodies in the grave and they will rise glorious bodies. Anyone who does not have eternal life in his spirit at the moment of death will rise to condemnation and eternity of suffering with Satan in the hell of fire. Yes we have three distinct components-- spirit, soul and body, and the effects of sin on our three distinct members bring different but related problems. The first signs of our spiritual condition are manifested in our bodies and our physical circumstances, and if we understand the supernatural, we will quickly begin to run spiritual checks to determine how and where we have entered darkness. Your teaching is on target.

I am so glad that the truth is beginning to go out to God's people. The churches abandoned the truth long ago and a lot have followed doctrines of men and demons.

What would "They" do
If Jesus were to do His same ministry on earth today, He would be wanted by:

....The FDA for turning water into wine without a license,

....The EPA for killing fig trees,

....The AMA for practicing medicine without a license,

LAM 2002 Schedule

Help for the Holidays is where individuals who need a little extra help can come and shop for free! We set up the facility like a department store, we have many individuals helping in the different departments. This year it's being held in Plymouth, CA in Pokerville Hall at the Amador County Fairgrounds. We are taking donations now of slightly used and new items. We want to have a good selection of quality items. All donations are tax deductible.

Please call at (530) 620-2712 or email TruthFrees@Mindsync.com for more information on these seminars or on the Help for the Holidays event.
